Skin Smart Program
Because your appearance is greatly
affected by the condition of your skin, Dr. Kaplan contends that
maintaining overall skin health requires a commitment to follow an
established skin care regimen. To that end, Dr. Kaplan has designed an exceptional "skin smart" program. The program consists of three components. Each is customized to address your skin type, lifestyle and budget.
THE FIRST COMPONENT is a series of clinical skin rejuvenation "signature" treatments that exfoliate the damaged, dead skin cells from the topmost layer of the skin. As a physician supervised program, the in-office medical strength treatments that we offer are stronger and therefore have greater potency than those offered by most beauty spas. Performed by our expert medical aesthetician, Vivian Rigler, RN, treatment options include the DiamondTome crystal-free microdermabrasion system, the Vitalize Peel, the Jessner's Peel and anti-aging "lunchtime" chemical peels with alpha- and beta- hydroxy acids. These treatments effectively slough the topmost layers of dead skin cells, resulting in a softening of fine lines and wrinkles as well as diminishing the telltale signs of sun damage, aging and hormonal changes. By repeating this process over the course of several weeks and months, healthy new cells are stimulated to grow and younger, fresher, softer skin moves to the surface. You will notice a significant improvement in the texture, vibrancy, and overall appearance of your skin.
A more aggressive approach is the MicroLaserPeel, which is performed by Dr. Kaplan. The MicroLaserPeel is a partial-to-full epidermal laser peel that is individually tailored to the nature of the problem to be corrected. By precisely removing the outermost layers of the skin- the MicroLaserPeel™ successfully treats wrinkles, scars, acne scars, keratoses and pigment problems. Because this procedure goes deeper into the epidermis (40-120 microns) than peel procedures performed by the aesthetician (10-20 microns), a topical anesthetic is applied prior to the procedure and a short downtime (limiting social activity for 4-7 days while peeling) is advised.
Because the results of all clinical skin rejuvenation procedures are cumulative, to achieve optimal results, it is advisable to schedule the recommended treatment series and to follow with a maintenance program.
THE SECOND COMPONENT of our "skin smart" program is adherence to a prescribed home care regimen to boost the effectiveness of the in-office procedures, to accelerate the results you desire and ultimately to maintain the results you achieve. When the topmost layer of dead and damaged skin cells is removed, a barrier to the absorption of topical treatment products is also removed. Significantly increased absorption greatly enhances the effectiveness of the topical products. Because our "Skin Smart" progam is physician-supervised, our extensive collection of pharmaceutical grade home care products contain higher concentrations of treatment ingredients and therefore have greater efficacy than those offered by beauty spas and retail stores. THE THIRD COMPONENT of our "skin smart" program is the
addition of non-surgical enhancements that address specific
problems that you feel detract from your appearance. Dr. Kaplan is an injection specialist. BOTOX® injections are typically used to smooth wrinkles in the upper face (crow’s feet and forehead and frown lines). Injectable dermal fillers such as Radiesse®,Restylane®, Perlane®, JUVEDERM™ and Cosmoplast® are used to soften creases and crevices in the lower face (wrinkles, acne scars, and nasolabial folds - lines that extend from the nose to the corners of the mouth) a swell as plump thinning lips.
Most of the time injectables are quite complementary and occasionally can even be used in the same area. For example, to smooth deep frown lines in the brow, BOTOX® can immobilize the muscles while Radiesse®, Restylane®, Perlane® or JUVEDERM™ can fill in the stubborn vertical lines between the eyebrows. We've had excellent results with this type of combination treatment. Dr. Kaplan constantly researches new non-surgical treatment options that are in development or are available abroad.
