MicroLaserPeel™

Improve the tone, texture and appearance of your skin in days!

What is the MicroLaserPeel™?

It is a minimal to full epidermal laser peel that precisely removes the outermost layers of the skin. The procedure is individually tailored to the nature of the condition to be corrected. Skin conditions such as wrinkles, laxity, scars, acne scars, keratoses or pigmentation problems have been successfully treated with the MicroLaserPeel™.

Who should consider a MicroLaserPeel™?

The MicroLaserPeel is an effective treatment for the patient who has little time for the prolonged healing process that accompanies deep chemical peels and CO2 laser treatments. It is also for the patient who is looking for more immediate results than those offered by a series of 6-10 microdermabrasion treatments or light chemical peels.

How is the MicroLaserPeel™ different from Microdermabrasion?

Generally, microdermabrasion only removes the stratum corneum (10-15 microns) or outer layer of the skin. The MicroLaserPeel™ is a partial to full epidermal peel (20-50 microns). Because the procedure penetrates deeper into the epidermis, it is the perfect step between microdermabrasion and deeper chemical peels. For this reason, it does require the use of a topical anesthetic and some down time.

How often can the MicroLaserPeel™ be done?

Typically the procedure is repeated 2-4 times, spaced about 4 - 8 weeks apart. To achieve desired results, additional cosmetic procedures may be performed.

What can the patient expect?

Smoother, healthier, more vibrant looking skin. You will notice a significant and immediate change in skin texture and tightness.

What type of anesthesia is used?

A topical anesthetic such as Emla or Betacaine Plus is applied 30 - 45 minutes before the procedure. It is then removed immediately before the procedure begins.

Does the patient have to wear any kind of bandage or dressing after the procedure?

No! The patient is given an ointment like CU3 Intensive Tissue Repair Creme. This is used for one to two days as a barrier to keep the air away from the skin while new epithelium grows. A light moisturizer will be needed after that.

How long is the healing process?

Immediately following the procedure, patients feel as if they have a bad sunburn. The healing process varies from patient to patient but will generally take four to seven days depending in part on the depth of the peel and the pre-condition of the skin. The procedure is usually performed on a Friday morning so that patients have the weekend to begin the healing process. Patients are generally ready to return to work or normal social activities in 7 days and occasionally sooner. Generally, patients experience minor to moderate sloughing and itchiness for 1 - 7 days. During that time, redness will begin to fade. Makeup can be applied once peeling has stopped, generally between
days 4 & 7.
